LEED

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.

Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) in 2001 kicked off one of the largest public-sector green-building projects in the nation. LACCD expects that, at the close of the project, 40 new or renovated buildings will meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. LACCD is committed to energy education and will integrate learning stations into its new buildings. The district, a 4th Annual Flex Your Power Education & Leadership Award winner, also co-sponsors an annual sustainability conference with the U.S. Green Building Council.
