About Los Angeles City College
Los Angeles City College (LACC) is located in the heart of the city on Vermont and Melrose Avenues. This year, LACC will celebrate the opening of its new Child and Family Studies Building with an official dedication ceremony this spring. Additionally, the Science and Technology Building - where future nurses, dental technicians and chemists will be trained for the jobs of the 21st Century - will be completed by the summer.

Los Angeles City College recently dedicated its new Center for Child & Family Studies. The facility is a 26,000-square-foot, $13-million building, which has the Campus Child Development Center on the first floor and a Child & Family Studies department on the second level. It provides additional classroom space for LACC’s 1,400 Child Development students and expands the preschool capacity from 66 to 90 children. The Child Development Center offers an early-childhood education program approved by the State Department of Education, Child Development Division, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children, an independent, accreditation and advocacy group. The “green” facility provides a modern environment for early childhood education and a state-of-the-art teacher-training site for child development students.
